curling-crest-wood-wall-sculpture-with-open-center-and-sweeping-relief
Curling Crest Wood Wall Sculpture with Open Center and Sweeping Relief

A long horizontal wall sculpture shaped as a single curling crest: the form rolls over at one end into a tight hook that encloses an open centre, then runs away into a broad tapering sweep. Cut from Natural Solid Wood, it is an object rather than a panel, and the wall shows through the curl. It gives a wide living room wall one strong gesture and nothing else.

Product Highlights

Tight curling hook at one end enclosing an open centre.

Broad tapering sweep running away from the curl across the width.

Carved from Natural Solid Wood with a continuous, undecorated surface.

No frame or border; the silhouette carries the whole composition.

Rounded profiles throughout, giving a poured rather than a cut appearance.

Protective surface coat over a finely sanded face.

Design & Craftsmanship

The curl is the most demanding part of the work: the timber has to be reduced from both faces at once so the hook closes cleanly without the section becoming weak where it turns. Once the curl is settled the sweep is drawn out from it and thinned gradually toward the far end. The maker rounds every edge over so that no line on the piece reads as a saw cut, and then sands through several grades before sealing. Grain running lengthways through the sweep is chosen at layout so the figure reinforces the direction of travel. The back is flattened only where the piece meets the wall.

Placement & Use

Made for a wide living room wall above a long sofa, or a reception wall in an open-plan space. Plain walls and light from above show the curl and its shadow to best advantage.

Care & Customization

Wipe along the sweep with a soft dry cloth and use a brush inside the curl. Keep the piece away from damp and out of long direct sunlight. Size and tone finish are selected when ordering, and bespoke proportions can be discussed with us first.

Shipping & Assembly

This piece arrives fully assembled, so there is nothing to build: it is packed as a single unit with protective materials and only needs mounting to the wall.
