modern-wood-end-table-with-sculptural-open-base-and-rounded-square-top
Modern Wood End Table with Sculptural Open Base and Rounded Square Top

An end table in Natural Solid Wood with a rounded square top over a base cut through with soft, looping voids that leave two feet on the floor. The openings do most of the work visually, breaking the mass of the block into something light. It suits a room where a plain cube would feel too heavy.

Product Highlights

Handcrafted from Natural Solid Wood and sealed with a protective coat

Base cut through with looping openings that leave two feet standing

Rounded square top, levelled and eased at every corner

Openings run right through, so daylight passes under the table

Solid body with no applied panels or added trim

Every cut-out is shaped by hand and follows its own line

Size and tone finish are chosen at the point of order

Design & Craftsmanship

The base is carved from joined blocks of kiln-dried solid wood, with the voids removed from a body that was solid to begin with, so the timber runs continuously around each opening. Our carvers shape the inner walls from both sides and blend them where they meet in the middle, which is the only way an opening this deep can look clean. The ribs left between the cuts are kept substantial, since they carry everything set on the surface above. The top is planed true and its corners softened until the square outline feels rounded in the hand. Finishing is carried by hand into every opening, because these faces are as visible as the outer ones.

Placement & Use

Put it at the end of a sofa where the openings face into the room and catch the light. It works beside a bed for a lamp and a book, with a base that keeps a small room feeling open. In a hallway it makes a sculptural landing surface.

Care & Customization

Dust the top with a soft dry cloth and use a clean brush inside the openings. Keep the piece clear of direct sun and damp, and wipe spills before they soak in. Custom sizing and a choice of tone finish can be arranged before production starts.

Shipping & Assembly

Each piece is packed with protective materials so it arrives without dents or cracks.
